Mid West Music Fest brings the best in established and up-and-coming musical acts of the Midwest and beyond and is an all-ages, multiple-venue, multiple-genre and multiple-day music festival. Mid West Music Fest spreads music throughout the city of Winona each spring as it brings dozens of bands to stages large and small. Funk, soul, folk, and indie rock are the festival’s staple genres.
The Art of Fine Furniture is an annual exhibit featuring the creations of professional and hobbyist studio furniture makers and this year’s focus explores “what it means for a piece of furniture and any other object in our lives to become an heirloom.” TAOFF includes 11 artists and is made up of pieces of studio furniture that invite, and excite ones curiosity to explore the inner mysteries and workings of the pieces in the exhibit. Most of the pieces are for sale and can be purchased from artists directly.
Great River Shakespeare Festival is the premier place to experience Shakespeare’s stories as our own. GRSF enhances the play-going experience through musical performances, receptions, classes, workshops and programs for learners of all ages and backgrounds. 2019 plays include”Macbeth,” “Cymbeline,” and “The Servant of Two Masters,”
“Bursting with Blooms” is a self-guided tour of Winona’s finest local gardens. Enjoy any time access through the day to beautiful gardens. The six gardens on the tour are at the homes of Deb Larson, 1752 Edgewood Road; Barb/Steve Slaggie, 1870 Ralph Scharmer Drive; Helen Newell, S3561 Chicken Valley Road, Ft City; Bob Ries/Craig Bratsch, 35388 Old Homer Road; Carolyn Crawford, 526 East Sarnia; and WSU Arboretum (Nancy Reynolds). Each garden has a theme including Gardens of Love, Flowers and Fun!, Slaggie Graceful Gardens and more. Tickets are $20, available at any of the gardens on the tour. Winona’s Dixieland Jazz Festival, keeps the toe-tapping music alive on the green on the Winona State University campus. The 2019 line-up is the Blue Ox Jazz Babies, Barbary Coast Dixieland Band and the Gate City Dixieland Band. Parking is free on lots or on street. Admission is free; food and drink are available; indoor rest rooms. Rain site is the Science Lab Atrium. Please bring your own chair.
